Welcome to the LogSim Internet site!

CadView Engineering Solutions introduces a new way to design en test functional logic diagrams for industrial control systems.

LogSim has been created from a demand in the market, to have a tool that is able to design the software part of instrumentation independent of the DCS or PLC supplier, in the form of functional logic diagrams. It is not only capable of simulating the modern digital and analogue logic components but also relays, pneumatics, hydraulics and mechanical parts as valves, transmitters, burst discs etc.

LogSim detects functional errors in an early stage of the project. The traditional design process (somewhat simplified) starts with setting up the logic elements and their connections based on the functional requirements defined in the P&ID, Cause & Effect diagrams and the P&ID. After this the PLC programmer writes his code and when he is finished the "Factory Acceptance Test" will take place, for the functional test switches (or electronic equivalents) are connected to the inputs and signal lights to the outputs. The test consists of comparing the in- and output signals with the original functional requirements. When everything is OK, the PLC will be installed in the plant and the "Site Acceptance Test" will take place. Because at the "FAT", not all components were connected, errors will still be there. With LogSim these errors will be eliminated because the logics are already functionally tested during the early stage of the project.
